About the Artist

Kim Gordon is a plein air painter based in Newport Beach, California. Her passion for art began at a young age and led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Art from California State University, Fullerton. Kim’s creative career has been wide-ranging: she has worked professionally as an art director for a graphic design firm, spent several years as a youth art educator, and most recently co-owned a custom wedding design business.

In 2020, Kim rediscovered her love of painting after meeting a plein air instructor and embracing outdoor oil painting. What began as a new direction quickly became a source of pure joy and creative fulfillment.

Deeply inspired by the coastal towns and beaches of Southern California, Kim finds endless motivation in the ocean’s beauty and light. As she often says, “Any day you can be by the ocean is a good day.”

Kim is a member of the Laguna Beach Plein Air Painters Association and the Southern California Plein Air Painters Association. Her work can be seen at Studio 7 Gallery in Laguna Beach, California.
